Practical Astronomy May - Safe Solar Viewing - Note the change to the normal date and time.
Sunday 20 May, 2012 at 12:00Hrs
Venue: Stardome Observatory

This month, weather permitting, we will have the opportunity to observe the Sun using the Stardomes Lunt telescope. We will also be  demonstrating and discussing techniques for safe solar observing and solar photography. This is aimed at preparing for the upcoming transit of Venus occurring on the 6th of June and the partial solar eclipse in November.

The solar viewing will be weather dependent. If the weather doesnt cooperate we will just do the explanation of the techniques inside.

The Lunt solar telescope is a 152mm refractor with an integral hydrogen alpha filter providing remarkable solar images. This is a great opportunity for members to see this instrument in action.
